Ayurvedic medicine has become popular in recent years as a natural, holistic approach to weight loss. It is very effective and works to clear the mind and body to encourage a healthier lifestyle while also achieving long-term body weight goals. It includes an understanding of the diet and lifestyle that suits an individual’s body makeup (dosha type). Ayurveda looks at the root causes of physical and mental imbalances and creates custom plans that focus on diet, exercise and lifestyle. Ayurvedic approaches to diet and lifestyle support weight loss by focusing on natural, whole foods that provide nutrients and energy without overloading the system with heavy fats and sugars. Healthy and balanced eating patterns provide the body with the fuel it needs to become and remain healthy. Herbs are used to detoxify and nourish the body, increase metabolism, and suppress appetite. Mild exercise and yoga practices are also used to aid the weight loss process. Ayurveda also helps to reduce stress and promote healthy emotional balance to support weight loss efforts. Stress reduction techniques such as meditation, art and music therapy are often included in Ayurvedic treatments. A variety of self-care practices such as oil massage, steam baths, and herbal purgatives are part of the process.
The thyroid is a gland located in the neck and plays an important role in metabolism and weight loss. When the thyroid is not functioning properly, it can cause many issues including weight gain. When the thyroid is underactive, it can slow down the metabolic process, leading to an increase in stored body fat and potential weight gain. Additionally, an underactive thyroid can cause fatigue, sluggishness, and decreased energy levels, all of which can contribute to weight gain. On the other hand, when the thyroid is overactive, it can speed up the metabolic rate which can result in rapid weight loss. However, weight loss caused by an overactive thyroid may be unsustainable and unhealthy due to the lack of proper nutrients intake. Therefore, it is important to maintain proper thyroid health in order to maintain a healthy weight. If weight fluctuates, it is important to seek medical advice to evaluate potential thyroid issues. A proper diet and exercise plan in addition to adequate medical supervision can help to effectively manage any thyroid related weight issues.
